Switzerland Trip Day 12: Annecy

 Tuesday, 23 June 2026

Today was super hot 🥵 We were all looking forward to having a swim later on in the day at the lake 🏊! Annecy was beautiful and I would happily go again, but maybe not in this heat! I have been absolutely loving all the pastries from France!! The best 👌

Started the day around 6:30am with all the kids waking us up. I made overnight oats in the evenings, so we had that :) Harri and Leo were brilliant and cleaned up after us in the kitchen and have helped out so much!

We then packed up the pram with swimming stuff, picnic stuff and all important sunscreen, and left for the 30 mins walk to the train station.

On the train. It took one hour to get to Annecy, so we had our lunch on the train.

Harri had planned out our route to end up at the lake for a swim, so we followed him when we arrived.

We found this tailor shop with all these old sewing machines that our grandma would appreciate 👌

We then happened upon a fruit market where we got cherries, peaches and the most amazing mango 🥭 It tasted just like an Australian mango 🥰

We were walking along all these little streets along the river.

Harri looked for a hat that he didn’t find.

We loved that there were water fountains everywhere for filling up bottles and splashing on ourselves to cool ourselves down 💦 .

Managed to get all of us somewhat looking 😅 The kids all took it in turns to have a nap in the pram - here it was Joshua’s turn.

One for the books!!

Harri and Leo looking very cool 😎

We stopped at a Pattiserie to get some tarts, and made the mistake of getting the wrong one for Samuel. There was a big meltdown, and eventually we realised the mistake. When we arrived at the playground he was feeling more heard and better 👌. We ate the tarts at the park and realised out of the fancy ones, the simple strawberry one (Joshua’s choice) was the best!

We made it to the beach at the lake!! Samuel was actually asleep by this point 😅 If you zoom in to this picture you should see Harri and Leo waving 👋

Joshua absolutely loved the water!! I am very glad he had on a neon shirt as well - he was very easy to see.

Leo and Harri were very happy to look after Joshua and Daniel for abit so Graeme and I could go for a lovely swim together 🥰

It was so hard to get Joshua away from the water!! He found a pink bucket that had been abandoned, so he was very happy about that!

I woke up Samuel, but he wasn’t wanting to swim. I think he was just wanting to be home tbh. It was an extremely hot day 🥵

On the way back to the main part of the city we came across a lovely bakery. I just had to get croissants, some brioche and a pain au chocolat 🍫 The kids were soo happy with their croissants 🥐

We then went to a restaurant for dinner. Most places were closed and opened again at 6:30, but that was too late for us. Luckily, we found one open and enjoyed a lovely entrecôte with rose wine 🍷.

We then hurriedly left to get the 6:40 train which we just managed to get. Harri and Leo stayed back for an hour.

Unfortunately the train was quite delayed, and we arrived in Annemasse 40 mins later than expected. We then had a half hour walk to the airbnb, and the kids were all hyper awake 😅

Before I went to bed, I tried the chocolate brioche with milk 🥰 It was sooo amazing 🤩 Made up for all the annoyance of the train being delayed 😂 And the milk was so creamy and delicious 🥰

We all, thankfully, eventually got to sleep in the horribly hot weather, and were planning on going to Geneva tomorrow.
